First Bank was the first financial institution to open its doors in Wichita County. Founded in May of 1907 in Burkburnett, Texas, First Bank has remained open and growing ever since, serving our community continually for more than a century.
Founded by legendary Wichita Falls businessman Joseph A. Kemp, the bank opened under the name of the First National Bank of Burkburnett. Its first president, pictured at left, was J. Harding.
Our bank has been a steadfast community partner and been instrumental in the growth of north Texas and southern Oklahoma. Since its humble beginning in 1907, our assets have grown from $25,000 to over $300 million.
Today, First Bank remains a community banking leader with five convenient locations in Wichita Falls, Burkburnett and Iowa Park. We are proud to be a a full-service independent community bank, insured by the FDIC. We're also proud to have been named a top performing bank by the American Bankers Association and the Independent Community Bankers of America. We have earned multiple 5-Star Ratings from BankRate.com, and in 2005, we won the Better Business Bureau's Torch Award for Ethics in the Marketplace.
A lot has changed since 1907, and First Bank has changed with the times as needed, offering Internet and mobile banking and services that our founding fathers could not have imagined. But some things have not changed. We still place our highest value on our people, our customers, and our community. And we still have the best banking professionals available to assist you with all your financial needs.
