  • Financial Services Representative/Teller

    Frisco, TX

    Position Summary:

    The Financial Services Representative/Teller is responsible for assisting customers with a variety of banking needs as well as making the best recommendation of bank products to current and prospective customers. Teller functions include accurately processing routine and complex transactions and responding to customer inquiries. The ideal candidate for this position is knowledgeable about banking products and processes, motivated, and has an outgoing, warm, and friendly personality.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Inform customers of procedures for applying for services such as ATM cards, direct deposit of checks, and certificates of deposit.
    • Interview customers to obtain information needed for opening accounts or renting safe-deposit boxes.
    • Answer customer questions and explain available services such as deposit accounts online banking, debit cards, etc.
    • Interview customers to obtain information needed for opening accounts or renting safe-deposit boxes.
    • Refer customers to appropriate bank personnel to meet their financial needs.
    • Compile information about new accounts, enter account information into bank systems, and file/scan related forms and/or documentation.
    • Investigate and correct errors upon customer request, according to customer and bank records.
    • Interpret legal documents and apply to various situations that may be presented.
    • Perform over-the-counter and drive-through transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, payments, etc. Transact night depository and mail deposits, processing all transactions via teller terminal with speed, accuracy and efficiency.
    • Perform other service transactions such as collections, wire transfers, cash advances, and stop payments, check ordering, issuing and redeeming savings bonds. Responsible for accurately balancing and securely maintaining all cash in their custody.
    • Respond to and follow through on all in-person and telephone customer inquiries or requests.
    • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the Bank’s products, services, policies, procedures and operating systems.
    • Provide professional, exceptional customer service.
    • Follow company rules, regulations and safety procedures.
    • May act as vault teller.
    • Filling out CTR’s in the event of the customer’s deposit.
    • Responsible for assisting in the daily operations of the branch which may include settlement of cash advances.
    • May assist with platform/new account functions as needed.
    • Strict adherence to the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and all other applicable regulations is required.

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • Proven experience as a financial services representative and/or teller is strongly preferred.
    • Previous cash handling experience is preferred.
    • Commitment to ethical conduct in all business endeavors.
    • Self-motivated and determined to complete tasks in a timely manner.
    • Tenacious problem-solving skills with a customer-oriented approach.
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills; ability to build rapport within the community.
    • Knowledge of banking practices and regulations is required.
    • High school diploma required.

    Physical Demands:

    • Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to fifty pounds at least two times per day.
    • Incumbent must be able to reach below and above the shoulders to both the left and right at least fifty times daily.
    • Job pressures are high for meeting deadlines, frequent interruptions and high level of telephone activity.
    • Mental ability required is high for reasoning, remembering, reading, writing and speaking.

    Skills:

    • Basic computer skills necessary.
    • Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
    • Good communication skills including speaking clearly and accurately using a pleasant tone and common conversational courtesies.
    • Strong customer service skills.
    • Human relations skills to effectively interact with customers and co-workers.
    • Math and grammar skills are necessary to effectively calculate and communicate information.
    • Ability to accurately type and perform data entry.
    • Proficiency in handling over-the-counter transactions.
    • Knowledge of a 10-key calculator, computer, photocopier and fax machine is necessary.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

    This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., and periodically on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Advise current and prospective customers on bank products and services that are best suited to their needs (e.g. checking and savings accounts, CDs, debit cards, etc.)
    • Understand and be able to clearly explain the products and services offered by First Bank, including but not limited to:
      • Checking and savings accounts
      • Certificates of Deposits (CDs)
      • Money market accounts
      • Online banking
      • Debit cards
      • Retirement accounts; traditional and Roth IRAs (individual retirement accounts)
      • Personal loans
      • Safe-deposit box
    • Assist customers with managing their bank accounts and finances; refer customers to appropriate bank personnel to meet their financial needs
    • Build long-term relationships with customers as a foundation to recommend our products and services
    • Open bank accounts for current and new customers; oversee transactions and close accounts when necessary
    • Compile information about new accounts, enter account information into computers, and file/scan related forms or other documents
    • Resolve problems and issues with banking services as they arise
    • Ability to interpret legal documents (with proper training) and apply to various situations and/or account types
    • Greet customers as they enter the bank and direct them to the correct area of the bank to conduct their business

    Physical Demands:

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    This is largely a sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending or standing on a stool as necessary.
